Faculty of Animal Husbandry - Overview

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry comprises three Departments, Viz. Animal Breeding and Genetics, Livestock Management and Poultry Husbandry. The Faculty offers 39 courses at undergraduate and 39 courses at postgraduate level along with several short courses. The number of undergraduate students in the faculty is 85 while the enrolment at postgraduate is 74 including 27 Ph.D. scholars. The Faculty has the mandate to modernize livestock and poultry farming and related activities to enhance productivity of food and fiber of animal origin and thus to bring more prosperity to the farmers and in turn to the nation. It is the pioneer institution that imparts Animal Husbandry education. The faculty has established an Animal Science Information Technology (ASIT) Laboratory for hand on training of the students and use of computers in various domains of teaching and research in the field of animal production.

The faculty members have published 10 books for the benefit of students, extension workers and the farming community.
